Capnospot®

Capnospot® is a device that changes color upon detecting CO₂ and confirms the correct placement of the catheter during pneumothorax decompression.
 

 Applications

  • Confirmation of catheter placement and patency during needle decompression in tension pneumothorax.
  • Continuous monitoring of catheter patency after decompression.
  • Use in patients:
  • Self-ventilating with progressive dyspnea, tachycardia, SpO₂ < 90%, hypotension, absent breath sounds, altered consciousness, or traumatic cardiac arrest.
  • On mechanical ventilation with decreased compliance, acute hypoxemia, increased ventilatory requirements, subcutaneous emphysema, or unexplained hypotension.

Instructions for Use

The Pneumeric CapnoSpot device changes from a dark purple color to a bright yellow when CO₂ is detected.

  • (A) El papel colorimétrico es morado en aire ambiente (CO₂ ~0,10%)
  • (B) El papel colorimétrico se vuelve amarillo brillante cuando se expone al aire espirado (CO₂ > 3,0%)
