Carlos Disdier and FCV in Bronchoscopy: Advancing Ventilation Innovation at the AEER Congress
Share
This past weekend we took part in the AEER Congress, a key meeting point for interventional pulmonology and advanced airway management.
During the congress, the AEER President, Dr. Carlos Disdier Vicente, delivered a lecture focused on Flow Controlled Ventilation (FCV) applied to bronchoscopy, a strategy that is attracting significant interest due to its potential to optimize oxygenation and ventilatory control during complex procedures.
Dr. Disdier is currently Head of the Pulmonology Department at the University Clinical Hospital of Valladolid and one of Spain’s leading figures in interventional pulmonology and advanced bronchoscopy. His career has been dedicated to the development and implementation of minimally invasive airway techniques, including rigid and flexible bronchoscopy, endobronchial therapeutic procedures, and the management of complex central airway diseases.
As President of the AEER, he has played a key role in the evolution of the specialty in Spain, promoting continuous training, standardization of procedures, and the integration of technological innovation into clinical practice.
In recent years, he has been particularly involved in the dissemination of novel ventilatory strategies during bronchoscopy, highlighting FCV as a potential tool to improve patient safety in high-complexity scenarios such as tracheobronchial stenosis or central airway tumors.
His presentation once again highlighted a clear approach: combining clinical expertise, innovation, and education as drivers for progress in airway management.
