Flow-Controlled Ventilation with Bronchoscope: Innovation in Complex Procedures

The University Clinical Hospital of Valladolid, led by Dr. Carlos Disdier, Head of the Pulmonology Department at the hospital and President of the Spanish Association of Respiratory Endoscopy and Interventional Pulmonology (AEER), has taken a major step forward in interventional pulmonology by incorporating flow-controlled ventilation with a bronchoscope during complex bronchoscopy procedures.

This technique, performed with the Ventrain system, allows patient ventilation through narrow channels, such as those of the bronchoscope, ensuring effective oxygenation and CO₂ elimination even in cases of critical airway management.

It is especially useful in situations such as tracheal stenosis or central tumors, where access is limited and conventional devices may be too invasive or ineffective.

This implementation demonstrates how the right technology can make a real difference in the safety and efficiency of the most demanding procedures. We are proud to be part of this advancement together with the team at the University Clinical Hospital of Valladolid.
